Ziti With Italian Sausage

Ziti With Italian Sausage

This dish is a perfect and wholesome meal by itself, it can be prepared with simple ingredients and is ideal when served with fresh whole wheat bread.

Ingredients Required

450 grams sausage (preferably Italian sausage)
1 packet ziti pasta
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 cup of celery, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped (medium sized)
1 can of peeled and diced tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt as per taste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 cans sliced mushrooms, drained
200 grams mozzarella cheese, grated

Method And Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees FBring to boil a large pot of water with a dash of olive oil and a pinch of salt, throw in the ziti and cook for about 10 minutes until the pasta is a dente. Drain and keep aside.In a non-stick cook the sausage, when it begins to leave out its oil, add in the mushrooms, celery and onions saute for about 4 to 5 minutes and keep aside.

In a another pan mix together the can tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic powder and the seasoning and simmer for a couple of minutes.In a baking dish layer the pasta, sauce, sausage mix and cheese, top with the grated mozzarella cheese and bake for about 45 minutes.This dish takes about 50 minutes to make and serves up to 8 persons.

Baked Ziti With Broccoli

Baked Ziti With Broccoli

This rich and creamy textured dish is a vegetarian’s delight, loaded with iron and calcium this dish is a perfect combination of healthy and tasty food.

Ingredients Required

450 grams penne pasta
olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, minced
500 grams fresh broccoli, cut into florets
200 grams parmesan cheese, grated
4 cups of heavy cream
250 grams mozzarella cheese, grated

Method And Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°.Cook the ziti pasta in salted boiling water until it is al dente, this could take about 8 to 10 minutes, drain and keep aside once done.Heat the olive oil in a non-stick pan and saute the garlic paste, add the broccoli and saute for a minute, remove from heat and combine this mix with the pasta and parmesan cheese.

Ladle the mixture into a baking dish, top with the grated mozzarella cheese and bake covered for about half an hour.
This dish takes about 45 minutes to make and serves up to 6 persons.

Ziti Salmon Salad

Ziti Salmon Salad

This chilled and fresh salad is one of the quickest and simplest dishes to prepare.

Ingredients Required

1 packet of ziti pasta
1 can of salmon, drained and de-boned
1 packet frozen snow peas (150 grams)
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 yellow pepper, finely chopped
few spring onions, finely sliced
half a bottle of Italian salad dressing
1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs seasoning

Method And Preparation

Cook the pasta as per the directions.

Once the pasta cools, combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, toss well and chill in the refrigerator.
This dish serves up to 10 people.
